A "brand" or "creator" account is offering you a partnership, giveaway, or investment opportunity that feels too generous. A stranger's comment section is full of the same praise, repeated almost word for word, which is a common sign of purchased engagement. You matched with someone on a dating app whose only public presence is a TikTok account, and something about the profile feels off.

In every one of these cases, the goal is the same: confirm the account behind the handle is what it claims to be before you send money, share personal information, or invest trust in the relationship. A TikTok scan gives you signals, not a verdict. When a report comes back clean, that means the account did not trip the indicators we check: no obvious sign of purchased followers, no matches on stolen or AI-generated profile photos, no linked complaints. It does not mean the account is guaranteed genuine. Scammers who are careful can still pass individual checks.

When a report flags something, treat it as one piece of evidence, not a conclusion. An account created two weeks ago with a sudden follower spike is worth a second look, especially paired with a profile photo that turns up on a modeling site or stock photo archive. Two or three signals pointing the same direction give you real confidence; one signal alone usually means "look closer," not "this is a scam."

If a TikTok contact has already asked you for money, gift cards, or remote access to a device, treat that as a strong indicator on its own, and stop the conversation.
