Fake Recruiter and Job Offer Checklist

How to verify recruiters, LinkedIn jobs, interview requests, and remote-work offers before you hand over data or money.

Job scams usually accelerate toward a financial or identity request: a fake equipment purchase, a payroll form, a gift card, or a pressure-heavy interview flow that skips basic verification.

The fastest credibility checks

Real hiring teams do not need crypto transfers, gift cards, or private purchases before onboarding. They also do not hide behind mismatched email domains.

A careful verification flow compares the company site, recruiter profile age, job-description reuse, and any claims about urgency or payroll setup.

What to save before the scammer disappears

Preserve the job post, recruiter profile, email headers, and payment requests. Scammers often delete evidence once challenged.

Questions worth asking early

  • Can the recruiter be verified on the real company site or a trusted staff directory?
  • Does the email domain match the employer's public domain?
  • Is the role posted anywhere outside one message thread?
  • Has the process skipped normal interviews, references, or contract review?

Fraudsters often rely on emotional momentum. Slowing the process down long enough to verify the recruiter, the company, and the payment story is one of the most effective protections you have.

Review a job offer if the story feels rushed or the recruiter identity does not hold together.
